New French Cafe Less Than Expected
Le Petit Cafe is a new restaurant in Arroyo Grande. I’ve read several reviews and had high
hopes, unfortunately they were not met.
The Digs:
Le Petit Cafe
1351 E Grand Ave.
Arroyo Grande, CA 93420
The Scoop:
Le Petit Cafe is a new restaurant in Arroyo Grande where Me ‘n Z’s used be. And for the long
timers, where King’s Fish & Chips was.
What Rocks:
It’s a small, quiet restaurant. It has a nice patio (it was too cold for us to eat outside), and a
cute atmosphere. Their french fries ROCK. And so does their trianon, a chocolate cake-like
desert with hazlenuts.
What Sucks:
For what you get, it’s expensive. We split two sandwiches (about $4 each), which we both
added a salad, fries and a drink ($4.85). The croque monsieur was basically a French grilled ham
and cheese: single slice of ham, with cheese and a bland cream sauce. Their menu needs some proof-
reading as well.
The Moolah:
Our bill (without tip) came out to be $34. Their prices range from about $4 to $10 and higher,
but expect to buy more than one item.

My Mom and I went here for her 89 bday treat. Our experience was almost identical to Sarafina H (second comment) however, they now use silverware and ceramic dishes. We ordered the pictured turnover (pastry around black forest ham, mushrooms and bechemel sauce) with coffee and tea. The waitguy brought our water, but we never saw our food or lemon tea until an HOUR later. I’d asked for the tea 3 times! He said they had to wait for the water to boil…
The food was okay and beautiful. The service terrible. The young guy finally brought our check and said he would comp the tea. 15 minutes later, after he served 2 other tables and took an order, he brought the bill. He charged me for the tea anyway.
We won’t be back.
