Chile Peppers

Great mexican food just don’t ask questions
Chile Peppers has been around forever in SLO and it’s great. I just don’t understand why the health department hasn’t made them clean it up a bit.

The Digs:
Chile Peppers
2121 Broad Street
San Luis Obispo
CA, 93401

The Scoop:
Chile Peppers focuses on Mexican food but has some great alternative items from their “International Menu”. They are still burritos but you can get Thai, Mediterranean, Jambalya, etc. as well as the traditional Mexican fare. (Try the Mole burrito!) I go there at least once a week.

What Rocks:
My personal favorite, the Mediterranean with Salmon, but I always wonder how fresh the salmon is. Great Mexican beer selection.

What Sucks:
It’s been there forever and desperatly needs to be cleaned up. It’s the kind of place you want to focus on how good it is and not whats in the corners or on the floor behind the counter. The people behind the counter are less than friendly sometimes but it is good food for a quick stop.

The Moolah:
Typical meal ranges $7-12 but most is around $7-9
